Barsebäck Resort’s website directly affects bookings and revenue and reflects the brand. The site had not been updated consistently and was difficult to manage. The assignment involved taking over the existing website, analyzing the current state, and creating a stable, secure, and easy-to-manage foundation for further development.
Challenge
The existing solution had several technical issues and lacked regular maintenance. Outdated themes and plugins, heavy media that negatively affected load times, an unclear licensing structure, as well as shortcomings in mobile optimization, accessibility, and SEO, created an unstable overall experience. Without a proper review, there was a risk of downtime, security vulnerabilities, poor user experience, and lost business opportunities. To enable further development, an initial analysis, troubleshooting, and stabilization were required.
Our contribution
The work began with a thorough technical review to create a secure and sustainable foundation. WordPress, the theme, and plugins were updated, DNS, domain, and hosting were migrated, and licenses and accounts for Elementor, Cookiebot, and GTranslate were organized into a clear structure. Outdated or unsupported plugins were replaced, and functionality was checked page by page.
Performance and mobile optimization were improved through adjustments to images, videos, menus, buttons, and layout. The website was adapted to meet accessibility requirements using plugins, widgets, and an Accessibility Statement. SEO and AEO were strengthened with updated meta titles, headings, alt texts, and structured data. Ongoing improvements included content, layout, logo, forms, GDPR compliance, and troubleshooting, carried out in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Services used
We took over Barsebäck’s existing website and applied our expertise to provide clear guidance, run tests, and deliver concrete recommendations. The work covered performance, accessibility, SEO/AEO, and user experience, along with technical and content improvements to create a stable and easy-to-manage platform.
Ongoing development and results
The website is now stable, fast, and easy to update. It works smoothly on both mobile and desktop, and the user experience has been improved with clear menus and easy-to-read text. Content, accessibility, performance, and search engine visibility are continuously updated, and everything can be quickly adjusted for seasonal changes, campaigns, or other needs. This gives Barsebäck a secure and flexible foundation for further development of the website and their digital presence.
All websites should be regularly reviewed and can be improved. Follow Barsebäck’s example and contact us for a free evaluation of your website.
